Federal Judge Rules Against Parental Rights Over Their Child’s Education
In one of the more egregious decisions by a federal judge, parents have been denied the right to opt their children out of books with LGBT content in Montgomery County Schools. According to Fox News, “Judge Deborah L. Boardman, a Biden appointee, concluded that the parents' ‘asserted due process right to direct their children's upbringing by opting out of a public-school curriculum that conflicts with their religious views is not a fundamental right.’”
The typical conservative response to this is, “imagine if the roles were reversed and none Christian parents wanted to opt their child out of religious instruction in a public-school classroom,” but that is based on the assumption leftists have any concern about the common good and virtue, and not being hypocritical. The reality is that the political left not only rejects Christianity, they want their very harmful ideology taught in place of Christian principles.
Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Benjamin Rush said this regarding education:
Ensuring American youths are properly educated necessarily requires that reading, writing, and arithmetic are based on virtuous moral principles and a common moral order. In other words, kids will not learn anything if their carnal desires are being fed with sexual temptations and immoral behavior. This is particularly grotesque when it is done at school.
Implicitly invoking the Constitution by way of saying that parents do not have a religious right to opt their children out of such vile curriculum is an afront to our political order and of laws regarding public decency. Parents, being the first and fundamental government, before civil government, have every right to opt their children out of studies they deem inappropriate.
There is no Constitutional defense that justifies the decision made by Judge Deborah L. Boardman.
Parents have been entrusted with the task of stewarding their children with care and love, educating them in the ways of the Lord and basic life skills. Schools should teach basic life concepts, not sexually perverse lifestyles that corrupt their youth. God’s people must restore education through responsible parenting.
